Homework Assignment Suggestions

  1. Search “Go Ask Alice” on YouTube and watch clip number 4. She gets invited to a party and drugs are put in her drink, and she didn’t know. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8beJ8abcgc In your workbook write one paragraph about what happens in the movie clip you watched.
  2. In your workbook start a list of questions you would ask Alice if you got the chance to talk to her. After you read each new section of the story, add at least one new question.
  3. Choose ten new words from Go Ask Alice. Look up the words in the dictionary and create a crossword puzzle with the words. If you like, you may use this website to help you: http://www.readwritethink.org/materials/crossword/
  4. Draw a picture that shows what happened to Alice at the party. Write a text that describes your picture.

Ask three friends or relatives what they do to say no to peer pressure. Choose one of the excuses listed and pretend your friend said it to you. Write a paragraph about what you would say to your friend to discourage them from drinking.
  7. Visit: http://www.abouthealth.com/t_topicX.htm?topic=25 Read the page about peer pressure and drinking. Make a comic strip that shows a conversation between two teenagers where one is trying to pressure the other to drink. Your comic should show how the teen being pressured resists.
  8. Make a poster to encourage other youth not to drink. Choose 4 of the following to include in your poster: slogan, pictures, 3 facts about alchol, what you can do to stop peer pressure, where you can go for help, different ways to say "no", a website where youth can get more information.
  9. Watch these two anti-alcohol commercials. Make a table that shows the similarities and differences.
